Tree Hotels

Remember when you were little and you wanted to live in your treehouse? Want that feeling of weightlessness and seclusion again, this time as an adult?
Take a Swedish adventure into the wilderness with the curious and odd vacation destination called Treehotel. Located in the small town of Harads, Sweden, Treehotel takes advantage of the natural surroundings and dense forests using them to serve as privacy for their sweet little getaway cabins nestles in the trees. Each small themed treehouse guestroom is suspended above the ground. Treehotel just opened this past July.

The Mirrorcube by Tham & Videgård Architects (Bolle Tham & Martin Videgård) is a lightweight aluminum cube covered in mirrored glass — you can see out 360 degrees. It has one double bed and you get there via a rope bridge.

The Bird’s Nest by Inredningsgruppen (Bertil Harström) was created to resemble a bird’s nest in which you are the eggs nesting inside! It has four beds (one double bed and two single child beds) and lots of privacy because of the branches on the exterior. You can access it from a retractable staircase.

The Cabin by Cyrén & Cyrén (Mårten Cyren & Gustav Cyren) has a double bed and views of the Lule River, It is accessed via a footbridge.

The Blue Cone by SandellSandberg has two levels. On the first is a double bed and in the loft, there are two single beds. To get to the Blue Cone, there’s a bridge from the mountain behind it.

A Room With A View by Marge Architects contains one double bed and offers spectacular views on three sides.

The UFO by Inredningsgruppen (Bertil Harström) has four beds (one double bed and two child beds). Who doesn’t want to sleep in a hovering UFO?

The Tree Sauna by Inredningsgruppen (Bertil Harström) is a 12-person sauna where you can relax amidst the refreshing scent of pine needles.

Nir Meiri

Israeli designer Nir Meiri has recently completed a project called 2 Stools. Made of wood and leather, this bench/table has two removable inserts that then become stools for extra seating. The bench is a limited edition of 7 and currently being exhibited at Paradigma Gallery in Tel-Aviv.

Here! Sod t-shirt packaging

Somchana Kangwarnjit of Prompt Design, a Thailand-based agency, has recently been awarded a Gold Pentaward for t-shirt packaging design called Here! Sod T-Shirt Packaging.

Here! Sod created a new line of t-shirts that are sold in simple yet distinctive packaging resembling food found in most supermarkets. Each shirt is custom packaged to resemble a piece of pork or icy beverage. Although the packaging is simply novel, it creates a fun and engaging shopping experience for the consumer.  The unique packaging created instant brand recognition amongst consumers which generated large volumes of word-of-mouth advertising.

Tapi

Ditch that expensive, wasteful bottled water — the tap is where it’s at. Tapi by Australian company Dreamfarm turns your ordinary faucet into a fun drinking fountain without disturbing the normal flow of water. Simply press the bottom of Tapi to change the flow of water. I bet this would be a big hit with kids.

Fresh Flowers is a collection of flowers, it's in the format of a newspaper, it's a way of having flowers on your table everyday.

Famous Eyeglass Frames

Framegeek.com, a blog about Men's eyewear, sunglasses and glasses, has just issued a series of posters celebrating 'Eyewear Made Famous' by Moxy Creative.

The collection consists of six different aesthetically pleasing graphic art posters. Five of the posters each feature one iconic outline of recognizable eyewear frames on the subdued colored silhouettes of Andy Warhol, Johnny Depp, Mahatma Ghandi, Kanye West, and Yves Saint Laurent. The sixth poster is a compilation of iconic white frames with call-outs beneath each of the face to whom the glasses belong.

Letter furniture for children

Alessandro Di Prisco has created a set of letter furniture for children. The shape of each letter serves as the inspiration for the design. The letter “S” is a swing for recreational activity, “I” is a library, “A” and “M” are a chair and table, and “G” is a chair-desk that becomes a corner where both working and relaxing are possible. How cute would this be at a day care center or in a nursery school classroom!
