Lid Sid will keep the covers of your pots and pans open when they need some air, and will raise smiles whenever you use him. What a fun gift for friends that love to cook but have everything.

Split Decision Pie Pan
If dessert time at your house sounds like this, “I want apple pie”. “No’ let’s have pecan pie!” … then you’ll need the Split Decision Pie Pan. Why bake one, when you can do two at the same time. The ingenious Split Decision Pie Pan includes two inserts for creating either a traditional full size pie, or two halves.

Kitchenware
I couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of these Kitchen Utensils over at Fab.comdesigned by Raia Studio. From left to right: Sud Green Dish Brush, Gaby Green Cheese Grater and Marshall Green Potato Masher. Really cute, mostly since I don´t have to worry about kids playing with them.

Tianmen Mountain Restaurant by Liu Chongxiao
A triangulated glass and steel restaurant sits beside a river in a remote forested gorge in southern China. Designed by Liu Chongxiao, the Tianmen Mountain Restaurant is located at the foot of a ravine leading down from the top of a mountain popular with sightseers. The restaurant is constructed from triangular panels of alternating timber and glass strips that allows diners a view of the surrounding landscape. The building is raised off the ground on steel feet to prevent flooding and gives access to the river via an external staircase. Tianmen Mountain forms a national forest park near the town of Guilin and also contains a historic temple.

Edible Parmesan Pencils
This box of pencils packs a cheesy punch! Leave it to a German ad agency to think up this cute — and practical! — way to transport and serve Parmesan cheese. But are they coming to Rio anytime soon?
Disguised as run-of-the-mill over-sized pencils, the "leads" of these pencils are actually flavored Parmesan cheese. Each set comes with a sharpener, allowing one to shave truffle, chili, and pesto flavored Parmesan right from the pencils. Too bad there were only 500 made.....

Green Berry Tea
This tea packaging and origami bird tea bag by Green Berry Tea are so clever. I love it when designers make something ordinary (like a tea bag) look extraordinary.

Living Kitchen Show
There are people out there who know kitchens, but not like Susan Serra, CKD, CAPS, author of thekitchendesigner.org and scandinaviankitchens.com. She curated this lovely kitchen design trends roundup for us from the 2011 LivingKitchen Show in Cologne, Germany.
The intricate and modern lace work of the Gutmann Arte hood is functional beauty with a sculptural quality.
By Blanco — Foreground: Stunning integrated stainless steel countertop and sink. Note the thin (great new look) countertop, chic drain cover and seamless design. Background: Cutting board in slotted section at right of sink slides into sink section to a) conceal sink mess when entertaining b) serve as extra counter space c) serve as cutting board over the sink (it is in two pieces).
Trend Alert: Thick countertop sections, a mix of natural materials with greige and/or strongly textured laminates (faux wood) as seen in the oven section. Greige is the neutral color story from lights to darks.
New technology by Hettich — MOVE THE BURNER LOCATION WHERE YOU WANT IT! It’s developed for appliance manufacturers and changes cooking forever!

Tableware from Seletti
Fun and functional, this porcelain tableware is a collaboration between Seletti's Selab and Allessandro Zambelli.
When not in use the modular dinner plates, salad plates, soup bowls and smaller bowls stack up to create buildings, complete with roofs. Take them apart and they are six table settings of square dishes perfectly suited for eating upon.

Evian by Issey Miyake
Each year evian introduces a new limited edition collector series of bottles. Last year was the Paul Smith collection and prior to that Baccarat and Jean Paul Gaultier, preceded by Christian Lacroix. This years' bottle has been decorated by Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake, with a flower inspired by his innovative pleated clothes.
This year, evian® and MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO signed a pure bottle, glowing with both optimism and freshness.
Sprung from ISSEY MIYAKE, the innovative pleated clothes of the designer, an imaginary shimmering flower decorates the most essential source of life, symbol of youth, the natural mineral water evian®. Thanks to this new design, evian® and MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO turn the end of the year tables into a flower field, full of poetry and humor. This bottle will exist in two versions, one of them sold exclusively at ISSEY MIYAKE shops.

Wall-mounted BBQs

I wanted to share the idea of wall-mounted BBQs.... They are great for small spaces because they leave precious space available for you to enjoy. They also have a second benefit: as they are wall mounted, they are stable. That is a key attribute and crucial to safety in any busy, small space. My favorite is this wall barbecue made by Focus:
It consists of a steel firebowl that folds up, so that when it is closed it takes up limited space. Attractive in both its open and closed positions, the barbecue is also practical, offering a range of cooking heights. It is easy to mount on any wall. The generous firebowl allows the barbecue to be used a number of times without having to empty out the ash. When you shop for wall-mounted, check they have a back panel to protect the wall from grease and fumes.
